Everett J. Jones, age 76, Garfield Ln, Jefferson, died Tuesday afternoon at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center where he had been a patient the past week.

He was born September 29, 1940 in Smithtown, KY, the son of Oren & Stella (Hughes) Jones and has lived in Jefferson permanently the past 10 years, coming from Euclid.  Mr. Jones was a retired employee of Eaton Axel Co. in Cleveland.

He attended the First Baptist Church in Jefferson and was a Mason and member of the Moose Lodge.  Everett loved being around people and visiting.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include three children, Brenda S. Hershman of Wooster, Wanda F. (Bob) Allman & Kenneth L. Jones, both of Akron, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three brothers, Gerald Jones of Kentucky, Don Jones of Elyria & Edward Jones of Cleveland and two sisters, Janice Rathburn & Shelby Lawrence, both of Princeton, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Geraldine in 2013, a great-granddaughter, Cheyenne and a sister, Ina Compton.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 1:15 P. M. at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, with Dr. Mick Gilliam, associate of the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday, 8/4/17, from 10:30 A. M. – 12:00 P. M. at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W.
