Edward W. Chiaramonte

Edward W. Chiaramonte, 93 of Plymouth Twp. died peacefully on January 1st at the Ashtabula County Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born September 28, 1924 in Ashtabula the son of Maurice and Flora (Foster) Chiaramonte.

Edward grew up in New Lyme, Ohio and graduated from New Lyme High in 1943 where he was class president. He graduated from the Ohio University School of Banking and attended Kent State University.

He was President of The Commercial Bank which he joined in 1961 and retired in 1982 as Chairman of the Advisory Board of Ashtabula and Board Member of Bank One of Northeastern Ohio, NA. Edward was a leader in the community in helping develop the downtown US Bank building and three other bank branches. He was also named Fiscal Manager of the City of Ashtabula; a past director of the Ashtabula Industrial Development Co, United Way of Ashtabula County, committee chairman of Kent State Economic Workshop and past board member of the Ashtabula Chamber of Commerce. He was a real estate developer of North Kingsville Plaza and Buck Lake Estates.

His interests included horseback riding, watching western movies, and OSU Football. He enjoyed spending time in Ocala, Florida during the winter months. He was a life member of BPOE #208; a past president of the Ashtabula Exchange Club; a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland; Rising Sun Lodge #22 FAM; Emerald Chapter #96 Order of Eastern Star and the Ashtabula County Shrine Club and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Edward was a loving husband of 60 years; father, and grandfather. He was known for his sense of humor, core decency, integrity and love of Ashtabula County.

Surviving him are his two daughters, Cheryle J. Chiaramonte of Ashtabula and Debra L. Hicks of Ocala, Florida; his grandson, Dustin C. (Lauren) Wolff of Plymouth, MN; nieces, Kim (Jay) Sears and Sandra (Russ Scholl) Chiaramonte. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma Jokinen Chiaramonte of Feb. 13, 2007 and his brother, Col. Robert M. Chiaramonte and his wife Evelyn.

Funeral services will be Saturday (Jan. 6th) at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Mark Mong and Rev. Glen Warner officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Friday (Jan. 5th) from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
