Colton Matthew Irish

August 30, 2003 ~ December 19, 2017 (age 14) 14 Years Old


Colton M. Irish died Tuesday (Dec. 19th) at his home. He was born August 30, 2003 in Cleveland, Ohio and was currently a freshman at Edgewood High School.

He was a member of the Edgewood High School Soccer Team; a former member of Kingsville Troop 11 of Boy Scouts of America. When he was younger he participated in BCMFL midget football league; the Kingsville Little League and the Soap Box Derby of the Northeast Ohio Division. Colton enjoyed playing the guitar; he was an animal lover, and avid gamer. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved 4-wheeling and dirt bikes. He also loved his shoe collection and cooking.

He recently received the State of Ohio Senatorial Citation presented by State Senator Sean J. O’Brien hand delivered by Eli Kalil former Edgewood graduate.

Surviving him are his parents, Bethany Irish and Ray Smith of Kingsville; his twin sister, Madison Marie Irish; his biological father, Matthew Irish of California; two step sister, Brooke and Chelsea Smith; a step brother, Jeromy Smith; his maternal grandparents, Gerald Landwehr of Conneaut and Mary Landwehr Herzberger of Rock Creek; his aunt. Geri (John) Griggs of Kelloggsville and his cousin, Stephanie Campbell of Rock Creek. He was preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents, Duane and Elsie Irish.

Inspiration Verse; Psalm 56:8 shared by his sister,  “But even I cried a river, Psalm 56:8 told me God would collect every one of my tears. The ones I blinked back. The ones I cried silently. The ones that soaked my pillow in the middle of the night. Not a single tear escaped His notice. Each one was precious to Him, because I was precious to Him.”

Calling hours will be Thursday (Dec.28th) from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Edgewood High School Auditorium, 2438 Blake Rd. Ashtabula with a short time of sharing at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Colton Irish Scholarship Fund c/o Bethany Irish. Envelopes will be available at the school.
