Iola (Henry) Bradley, 101, passed away on March 18, 2024.
She was born on July 17, 1922, to the union of Oscar and Addie Henry in Mount Zion, Arkansas in Union County.
Iola was a remarkable woman who graced this world with her presence for 101 years. She was the heart and soul of her family. Her passion for cooking brought joy to countless gatherings and around the dinner table where her delicious meals became the centerpiece of cherished memories.
She possessed a gift for sewing, transforming fabric into works of art that warmed the hearts of her loved ones.
With a twinkle in her eye, she also embraced the tranquility of fishing, finding solace in the gentle rhythm of water, casting a line and the thrill of reeling in the day’s catch.
Yet, her greatest joy was found in the loving embrace of her family, where she thrived in their company, imparting wisdom and nurturing bonds that will endure for generations.
These passions were threads that bound her family together.
She leaves behind her a legacy of love, laughter, and the aroma of her favorite dishes, forever etched in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Iola was a devoted and oldest member of Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, she was also the oldest member of the Mothers Board.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Jesse Bradley; parents Oscar and Addie Henry; children, Jesse L. “Sonny Boy” Bradley, Ruth “ Tootsie” McKinney, and Larry D. Bradley; brothers, Otis Lee Henry, Clemi T. Henry, Ellis B. Henry, and Ollie B Henry; and sisters, Ruby Dell Simpkins, Lurie Mae Barnes and Ceola Chambliss.
Survivors include her children, Geraldine Holman, Addie R. (Randy) Henton, Ellis T. (Jewel) Bradley, Amos Bradley, William L. (Sally) Bradley, James Bradley and Johnny Ray (Melody) Bradley,(adoptive daughter)Betty Jean Aaron all of Ashtabula, Ohio.
Iola Bradley was the mother of ten children, twenty-three grandchildren, sixty-two great grandchildren, thirty great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Peoples Baptist Church, 3837 West Avenue, Ashtabula; Calling hours will be held from 11:30-12:30 with her funeral services starting at 12:30. Entombment will follow in the garden mausoleum at Greenlawn.
