Wallace D. Woodburn, 94 of Ashtabula died Tuesday (Jan. 23rd) at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born January 24, 1923 in Ashtabula the son of Charles and Lucille (Whitman) Woodburn.
He was a graduate of Ashtabula High School. He was a locomotive engineer for the New York Central Railroad and was a veteran of the US Army in the 721st Railroad Operation Battalion in India. He retired from Conrail after 42 years of service.
He was a member of the East Side Presbyterian Church; the BPOE #208 and VFW Post #946 of Ashtabula.
Surviving him is his wife Beverly whom he married October 25, 1947; a son, Mark Woodburn of Kingsville; a son-in-law, Tom Dinger of Florida; two grandchildren, Eric Dinger of Daytona Beach, FL and Kaley Dinger of Palmer, MI; a brother, Clair (Charlene) Woodburn of Ashtabula; and a sister, Lulagean Ellwood of Ashtabula. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Janice Dinger; his daughter-in-law, Elliott Woodburn and his brother, Merle Woodburn.
Graveside services will be Saturday (Jan. 27th) at 11:00 AM at the Edgewood Cemetery, State Road Ashtabula with Rev. Michelle Bartel of East Side Presbyterian Church officiating.
