Robert V. Carter, 93 of Clearwater, Florida and former Ashtabula resident died Monday (May 23rd) at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Palm Harbor, Florida. He was born October 18, 1922 in Ashtabula the son of William and Althea (Vactor) Carter.

He was a veteran of the US Maries during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

He was employed with the Ashtabula Star Beacon for 44 years as a forman in the composing room following his retirement he and his wife moved to Florida.

He was an avid golfer, he enjoyed fishing and after his eyesight failed he like to listen to books and tapes.

Surviving him is his son, Dennis (Karen) Carter of Clearwater, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Connie Carter of Brunswick, Ohio;   6 grandchildren, Brendan, Kyle, Sean, Kelly, Katie and Jason and eight Great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jeannie Carter in 1998 and by a son, James Carter in 2011.

Graveside services will be Tuesday (May 31st) at 2:00 PM at the Greenlawn Memory Gardens, East Main St in North Kingsville, Ohio with Alisa Nierzejewski, Certified Celebrandt officiating.
