Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Frances Fish

July 10, 1923 ~ March 27, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

On Monday, March 27, 2017 at Serenity Suites in Ashtabula, OH, Mary Frances Fish passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born in Warren, OH on July 10,1923 to Ross K. and Helen (McCorkle) Ferry, she resided there until the age of 13, when her family moved to Geneva, OH.  There she graduated from Platt R. Spencer High School in 1941.

Mary began her 30 year career in clerical work in various business offices immediately after graduation, with the last 15 of those years at Olin Chemical in Ashtabula as the plant manager's secretary. After retiring in 1978, she began part-time employment at the Ashtabula County Library, mainly because it nourished her passion for reading and learning. She enjoyed her years there from 1980-1982.

Mary and Nicholas Fish were united in marriage on December 14,1951 and lived in Ashtabula for the entire 50 years of that marriage.  Their children are Daniel N. (and Karen) Fish of Ashtabula and Pamela R. Smith of Lewis Center, OH.  The love of Mary's life were her 3 granddaughters, Allison Smith of CO, Melanie Eccles of MI, and Ashley Long of AZ.

Church attendance was also a vital part of Mary's life, as shown by her 31 years of membership at Harris Memorial Presbyterian, where she also served as an elder.  After that church closed its doors, she joined Pastor Long at the First Presbyterian Church on Park Ave. She attended Bible studies and services there until her health prohibited this.

Mary enjoyed traveling on bus tours many years with family and friends, but she was also very content to enjoy her home and flower gardens, while also feeding and watching the wild birds in her backyard. Right up until her death, she was fascinated with the birds feeding outside her window.

As well as her children and grandchildren, Mary is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nick in March 2002; her brother, Ross K Ferry; and 2 sisters, Eva M. Kerzic, and Ruth MacLaughlin.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Serenity Suites and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their care and compassion over mom's last years in this life.

Services are Friday (March 31st) at 1:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. David Hines of the Kingsville First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.

Calling hours will be Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio. Condolences, light a candle and obituary at www.fleming-billman.com
