LaVerne M. Lewis, age 89, former Geneva, Pierpont and Jefferson resident, died early Friday morning at Geneva Shores Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she has resided the past four years.

She was born September 27, 1927 in Cortland, the daughter of Frederick C. & Anna (Fenton) Lewis and has resided in Ashtabula County most of her life.  LaVerne participated at Happy Hearts for a short time.  She loved pets, especially cats.

LaVerne is survived by a sister, Barbara Ford of Geneva and a sister-in-law Shirley Lewis in Jefferson, whom she lived with from 1992-2013 and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles “Chuck” Lewis, a sister in infancy and a nephew, Tom Lewis.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P. M. in Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva with the Rev. Fred Grimm of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd., Ashtabula, OH  44004.

Visitaition will be held Tuesday from 1:00-1:45 P. M. at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 323 S.
