Kathryn B. “Kay” Herndon, age 90, Dorset Rd., Jefferson, died Saturday morning at her residence.

She was born August 20, 1926 in Denmark Twp., the daughter of Albert & Mildred (Jamison) Carlson and has resided in this area all of her life.  She married Clifford J. Herndon on April 6, 1946 at the Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church.  Kay was a retired employee of the Jefferson Area School System.

She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church and she enjoyed quilting and homemaking.

Kay is survived by four children, Roger (Sue) Herndon of Lawrenceville, GA, Larry (Debi) Herndon of Pueblo, CO, Doug Herndon & Pamela Little, both of Ashtabula, six grandchildren, Corey & Christopher Herndon, Bryan & Eric Herndon and Joseph & Aileen Little, Four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigail, Nash & Wesley Herndon and a sister, Letha Long of Ashtabula.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford in 2008 and two sisters, Virginia Cruea & Wilma Barker. 

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 P. M. at Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson with the Rev. Daniel Bilkert officiating.  No calling hours will be observed.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 E.
