Joyce M. Larson, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Life Center in North Charleston, SC.  She was born August 9, 1927 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Vincent & Anna (Nerad) Hlinovsky and been a resident of Ashtabula the majority of her life.

Joyce graduated from Ashtabula High School, class of 1945 and from St. John’s Hospital Nursing School in 1949.  She was in the last class of the Nurses Cadet Corps and was a registered nurse and a discharge planner at the Ashtabula General Hospital from 1949 until her retirement in 1987.

Joyce was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and volunteered in many church related organizations, including the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Catholic Charities and serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for the homebound.

Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, her volunteer work, golf and bowling.

She is survived by her son, William Jed (Janet) Larson of Andover, CT, a daughter, Cynthia (Roy) McMillian of Summerville, SC, four grandchildren, Leslie (Eric) Roberts of Summerville, SC, Brendan Larson of Arlington, VA, Jonathan Larson of Glendale, CA & Justin (Amanda Larson of Colchester, CT and two great-grandchildren, Liam & Miles Roberts of Summerville, SC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, a sister, Elaine Hart, brother, Vince Hlinovsky, two half-sisters, Elsie Schager & Mae Lassa and a half-brother, James Hlinovsky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. at Our Lady of Peace-St. Joseph Church, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Fr. Raymond Thomas presiding.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.  No calling hours will be observed.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1404 E. 9th St., Cleveland, OH  44114.
