Janet L. Kent, 80 of The Villages in Florida died Tuesday (Sept. 6th) in Florida. She was born October 8, 1935 the daughter of Leslie and Alice Grace (Munn) McCann.

She was a 1953 graduate of Ashtabula High School and she married Gary D. Kent in 1954.

She had been employed at Carlisle’s Department Store in Ashtabula. She and her husband Gary loved traveling and camping. She also enjoyed bowling, gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She and her husband started the Ashtabula Athletic Booster Club in the early 1970s which raised money for sports. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ashtabula and at The Villages she was a member of the Buckeye Club.

Surviving her are her three children, Kathleen E. (Gerald)  Renaud of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Kevin L. Kent of The Villages , Florida and Kris D. “Clark” (Kira) Kent of Canonsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Tom, Dylan, Hannah, Leah and Cameron; her brother, John A. McCann of Tennessee and a sister, June Laine of Ashtabula. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary in 1988; a sister, Cheryl L. McCann and a step-brother, Gary McCann and companion and friend, Mark Scott.

A memorial service will be November 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Rev. Dr. Michael Meranda of the Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
