Emil Ferenz, Sr., 88 of Geneva died Saturday (Feb. 18th) at Rae-Ann Nursing Home in Geneva. He was born April 19, 1928 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, the son of Andreas and Veronika (Wabosek) Ferenz and moved to the United States in 1957.
He owned Concord Machine Products, Co. in Geneva, which he founded in Concord, Ohio in 1963. His company did design and custom machine works of all kinds, including hydraulics. To quote Mr. Ferenz “I can make anything you can draw on paper and make it well." He worked for over 50 years until his retirement, serving the needs of many local businesses, farms and wineries.
He also enjoyed playing the accordion with his wife Sophie's vocal accompaniment at various wineries and local community events in the area and at the family's annual pig and beef roasts.
Surviving him are four children, Emil (Tu) Ferenz, Jr. of Cypress, Texas, Helmuth (Beverly) Ferenz of Painesville, Pete Ferenz of Geneva and Sophie (John Baumbusch) Ferenz of Pickerington, Ohio and three grandchildren Jennifer Ferenz, Kevin Ferenz and Katherine Ferenz. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sophie in 2000 and by a brother, Conrad.
Funeral service will be Thursday (Feb. 23rd) at 11:00 a.m. at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 323 South Broadway, Geneva, Ohio with Deacon Richard Johnson of Our Lady of Peace officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva.
