David E. Gran, age 58, E. Ashtabula St., Jefferson, died Friday afternoon at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.

He was born March 25, 1959 in Ashtabula, the son of Edward L. & Ruth I. (Woodworth) Gran, Jr. and has lived in Jefferson all of his life.  David was a 1977 graduate of Jefferson Area High School and the Ashtabula Co. Vo-Ed School.  David served in the United States Marine Corp.  He was a self-employed tree trimmer.

David loved the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing as a young man.  He especially loved the many years he spent with his family vacationing at Kenlea Camp, Point-Au-Baril, Ontario, Canada.  He enjoyed spending time at the Jefferson Diner visiting with friends and was always happy when he could help a friend in need.  Some of his fondest memories were of the times he shared with his chocolate lab, Bear.  He loved his family and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth I. Gran and a brother, Timothy E. (Pamela) Gran, both of Jefferson and nieces Wendy L. (Chris) Balcomb of Ashtabula & Rebecca M. (Jason) Fisher of Geneva.  His father, Edward L. Gran, Jr. and a great-nephew, Gage preceded him in death.
