Bess J. Dibble, 80 of Ashtabula died Saturday (Sept. 16th) at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1937 in Erie, Pa the daughter of Gale and Claudine (Marrison) Mann.

She married Roger Dibble Feb. 19, 1954 in Lawrence, Indiana. She was in the Ashtabula High School class of 1955.

She had worked at various retail businesses in Ashtabula including Carlisle’s, Thom McCann’s, Betty Dixon where she was manager, Wentling Drug Store, Moses Grocery Store, Rodgers Jewelers and Bee-Line Fashions where she was Manager.

She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ for 45 years where she held many offices and sang in the choir for 28 years. She then became a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.  She was a Den Mother for Pack #13 of the Cub Scouts for many years; a band booster at Ashtabula High School from 1971 to 1985 and a member of the Marine Corp Auxiliary. Bess enjoyed knitting, crocheting and visiting family in Florida.

Surviving her is her husband, Roger; four sons, Paul (Bonnie) Dibble of Geneva, Gary (Amanda K.) Dibble of Saybrook, Dennis (Renee) Dibble of Jefferson and Timothy (Celecia) Dibble of Ashtabula; twenty five grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,  her step-father, Frank Scafuro and her twin grandsons, Jonathan and Andrew Dibble.

Funeral service will be Thursday (Sept. 21st) at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Mark Mong and Rev. Ron Fields officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Wednesday (Sept. 20th) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family c/o Roger Dibble.
